Please read these notes carefully and try to assist us by answering all of the questions you can on the form at the bottom of this page. Alternatively, you can call our sales team to discuss your requirements.
The following notes tell you more about the types of safety gates available for openings with or without doors and that can also operate with runway hoists (Teagke openings). Some questions on the enquiry form refer to these notes. It may simpler to read the form first and then refer to the notes which are relevant to your application.
For opening without doors
Special gate features which may be usefull are:
For Opening with doors - Also doors with Hoist Runway (Teagle Doors)
Please tell us what type of doors are fitted
e.g. Roller shutter, Sliding shutter, Sliding door, Single door opening out, Single door opening in, double doors opening out, single doors opening in.
For all types of doors without a runway but with an external ledge of around 500 mm or can have a ledge extension plate fitted, the Omega Nu model can be used.
For inward opening doors
Sigma Model can be used with inward opening doors (See case study). You will need to drill 2 x 50mm dia holes in the wall each side of the door frame at knee rail and handrail height for the active mechanism tubes which will hold the outer gates.
We will require the proposed hole cross centres and the thickness of the wall to finalise the arrangement. The outer or edge gates have vertical posts which will need to land on a ledge. If no ledge exists, you will have to bolt a short bracket to the wall at the centre of the outer face door sill.
The Sigma model is particular useful for applications with very low headroom as the edge gate has twin pivoting gate swhich pivot up either side of the opening and are much lower than the Hi-gate models (See below). The inner gate is a fold up gate which needs to be closed to access the load. For hoist loading the load has to be landed and disconnected from the hoist within the safety area and a non-wheeled laod can then be moved further in by landing onto a suitable trolley or pallet truck.
The Hi-Gate model can be used for a doorway with runway (See case study) or without. Installation requires minimum 2 x 50mm dia holes drilled through wall on one side of the door opening for mechanism tubes. For the barrier rests on the other side of the opening, 2 further holes can be drilled for crutch support brackets or we can provide external bolt-on brackets (Subject to wall construction).
The Hi-Gate model is the ideal model for overhead hoist loading operations as it has pivoting gates each end which allow a suspended load to pass through the safety enclosure without the need to land the load within the safety area. There are three models: The Hi-Gate Standard is a twin bar gate. The Hi-Gate Plus is a three bar gate and the Hi-Gate Low Pivot model has three bars and reduced headroom.
Special note on runway use: If headroom is very tight you may need to alter the hoist feed system as the gates could foul the hanging cables .
Please specify your particular needs in special requirements
